Enhancing Our Education
Being at the height of the electronic era, the knowledge one can acquire today is limitless. Yet, the education referred to in our title is not the one that is taught in the schools of learning. We cannot deny or minimize the value of this type of education. Neither can we give it more credit than it deserves. Let's be honest; we've all known people with brilliant minds that do things that are brainless. Mark Twain was quoted as saying: "I never let my schooling interfere with my education." A slightly known comic once said: "In real life, I assure you, there is no such thing as algebra." I hate to admit it, but I don't recall ever applying the algebra I learned to real life situations either. I'm talking about the knowledge and wisdom that can be utilized in everyday living. Dear reader, would you like to be wiser and more knowledgeable than most people around you? If you do, I encourage you to read, study, and meditate on the Word of God daily. Then, make it your rule for living. After the Resurrection, the brilliant-minded religious leaders of the day, marveled at the knowledge and authority displayed by Jesus' Disciples. They could not understand how these simple, uneducated fishermen knew so much. (Read Acts 4) Yet, David knew the answer. He wrote: Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. (Psalms 119:98-99)
